10:30 AM Bethel Worship
All are welcome
Worshipers have many opportunities to be involved in Sunday worship services. Read about the opportunities and sign up below to volunteer. View a list of this month's Sunday Servers to see who is signed up (and what opportunities are still available!).
Assisting Minister: Assisting Ministers lead the prayers of the congregation, the responsive reading of the psalm, and distribute the bread or the wine at Communion. Some of our services are “sung,” which means part of the liturgy is sung by the pastor or assisting minister. Other services are “spoken,” which means the liturgy is not sung. If you would like to volunteer to be an assisting minister, please let us know if you prefer singing or not singing.
Communion Assistants: Communion Assistants help distribute the bread and wine at Communion. Generally we need four people per service.
Lector: The lector reads the lesson during service. Usually we have one reading from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament (and sometimes there is only one reading, not two). We send you the readings a few days ahead of time so you can practice and feel prepared.
Special Music: Do you play an instrument or sing? Bethel welcomes you to share your musical gift with us! Every Sunday during summer we ask people to share special music. There are also opportunities for special music during the rest of the year. Please let us know if you can share your talent with us.
Finance Team: The finance team counts the Sunday Offering and deposits it at the bank.
Ushers: A minimum of four people make up an Ushering Team. They are responsible for arriving early and checking the sanctuary to make sure it is ready for the service; handing out programs as people enter; collecting the offering; guiding people through the communion portion of the service; counting those in attendance; and, lastly, after the service making sure the sanctuary is tidied and the attendance sheets are collected.
There are four teams and each serves one Sunday per month. Each team also takes on one fifth Sunday and one holiday service per year.
Toddler Room: An adult is on duty every Sunday in the toddler room during worship to watch the children. If you like working with younger children, this is the place for you!
Hospitality: Sunday Hospitality Servers set up cookies, coffee, and Kool-Aid before the service, then serve it with a friendly smile after the service, then clean up and put away. Commitment could be occasional or once a month. This is a great opportunity to share your baking prowess with the congregation!
Altar Guild: The Altar Guild (a team of two to three people) assists the pastor in preparing the chancel for the worship service. Duties include: making sure the correct color paraments are on the altar, pulpit, and lectern; setting up the Communion Table; washing and putting things away following the service. There are six Altar Guild teams and each team serves for one month at a time. The teams rotate through the year, serving two to three times during the year.
Sacristy: One person is on duty for the Sacristy each week. This person makes tapes of the Sunday service, helps communion assistants and assisting ministers to robe, helps the assisting minister adjust the microphone, and also lights and extinguishes the candles. There is a rotation of Sacristy people so volunteers would only fill this role once (or less) per month.
Van Drivers: Bethel sends out a van each Sunday to bring people to church who cannot drive. They are picked up, delivered to Bethel, and returned home afterward. You can sign up to Pick Up only, Return only, or do both.
If you would like to be involved, please fill out this form! When we receive your information we’ll get back to you with a confirmation and further direction.
